The sunscreen chemical itself isn’t new, Padimate O, it’s fallen out of popular use as it can be unstable.

However, the nanoparticle coating that keeps it stuck on the skin and (in this study) from penetrating, is new – and hopefully can be applied to other sunscreen chemicals.

FDA Approves 15% Finacea (Azelaic Acid) Foam, for Mild to Moderate Rosacea

While the mechanism for how azelaic acid improves mild to moderate rosacea is still unclear, it was shown in two randomized double-blind trials to be superior to placebo.

The most frequently observed adverse reactions included local site pain (6.2%), pruritus (2.5%) dryness (0.7%) and erythema (0.7%).
