<p>The published work shows that Fra-2, a transcription factor, plays a key regulatory role in epidermis formation.</p>
<p>“With the help of specific mouse models we demonstrate that the expression of Fra-2 in keratinocytes induces the expression of genes in the Epidermal Differentiation Complex (EDC)” the authors write.</p>
<p>Conversely, loss of Fra-2 in suprabasal keratinocytes was sufficient to cause skin barrier defects, due to reduced expression of EDC genes</p>
