Your first source, from the NCBI, is about vitamin C stability in baby formula. Your second source was written by a self-described "entrepreneur, author, blogger, and speaker," who cited a 50-yr-old study that has since been refuted by modern (post-2000) research and misinterpreted another.

Meanwhile, a 2006 study (performed on 60 Japanese women) not only combined vitamin C and niacinamide, but in fact increased the absorption of the two agents using ultrasound, and found the combo to be be "effective at reduc[ing] hyperpigmentation."

Thank you! And cheers to science! The niacinamide/vitamin C no-no is still so widely reported despite having been long debunked. Most highly touted moisturizers and SPF products contain high amounts of niacinamide, including 2 that I found after endless vetting, and I LOVE them (CeraVe PM Facial Lotion and Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting SPF 30, FYI). If this myth was true, I'd have to start my search for those products all over again!

Thank you for setting the record straight! For the last 2 months I've been using Bombshell Bathtime's Vitamin C E Ferulic and Hyaluronic Acid Serum from Amazon, and it contains both L-Ascorbic Acid and Niacinamide. I've only noticed positive results on my facial skin after using it. The serum is orange in color but it's more effective at evening out my skin tone than any other serum I've tried.

Great article thanks. I have been using c e ferulic for years underneath my sunscreen. Just a few days ago I added Lotion P50V which has niacinamide and lactic acid in it. I have been using it as a toner before the c e ferulic. I suppose this should be ok? Any comments from you or anyone?

Very interesting and eye opening :)

I also wonder how different kind of retinol (both over the counter and prescription) interact with other acids?
retinol-absorbic acid
retinol-niacinamide
retinol-glycolic
retinol-lactic

best wishes

Hello!

I suppose this is slightly off topic, but.

Cosmetic skin solutions recommend using a panthenol (b5) serum together with their vitamin C serum, due to increased effectiveness.

Do you know whether or not this is the case, and in which case how that would work?
